Maryland Wear And Carry Initial Certification Course Schedule Preference is 4 days of 4 hour blocks, but I can modify to 3 days; two 6 hour classroom and one 4 hour range Day Maximum 5 Students per Class $400 per student
Day 1 4 hours
- Lecture Basic Marksmanship.
- Lecture on drawing from holster.
- Lecture on drawing from concealment.
- Lecture on types of wear and carry, concealed and open carry.
- Practical drills on Basic Marksmanship.
- Practical drills on drawing from holster.
- Practical Drills on drawing from concealment.
- Red Dot optic introduction.
- Weapon mounted light introduction.
- Hand held light introduction.
Day 2 4 hours
- Lecture on Maryland firearms laws.
- Discussion Situational Awareness.
- Discussion on Use of Force.
- Review use of force scenarios and have a discussion on what needs to occur, and in order to use deadly force.
Day 3 4 hours
- Range Day.
- Firearm, holster, and 100 rounds of ammunition required.
- Eye and ear protection required. Eye protection and inner ears provided.
- If students needs a firearm and holster, they are available for an additonal fee.
- Basic qualification course 25 rounds.
- The qualification is from low ready and does not require a holster.
- Live fire drawing from holster.
- Live fire defensive shooting positions.
- Steel target transitions.
- Judgement shooting.
- All drills allow for drawing from holster, if student has demonstarted proficiency in classroom.
- All drills are voluntary and can be conducted with Coolfire instead of live fire,depending on the student.
Day 4 4 hours
- Overview and scenario training.
- Review prior topics and allow students to ask any questions they have.
- Conduct scenerios with students using Coolfire trainers for safety and realism.
- Conduct after action for scenarios.
- Introducton to medical and Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK).
- Issue certificates.
- Review Maryland State Police Portal used to apply for Wear and Carry and HQL.

- Review Maryland Firearm Laws.
- Review Use of Force.
- Review Situational Awareness.
- Review Everyday Carry considerations.
- Discuss students weapons and holster selection.
- Introduce Red Dot sights.
- Practice dry fire holster draws.
- Review Basic Marksmanship.
- Introducton to medical and Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK).
- Scenario Training using Coolfire pistols.
Day 2 4 hours
- Range Day.
- Firearm, holster, and 100 rounds of ammunition required.
- Eye and ear protection required. Eye protectiona and inner ears provided.
- If students needs a firearm and holster, they are available for an additonal fee.
- Basic qualification course 25 rounds.
- Live fire drawing from holster.
- Live fire defensive shooting positions.
- Steel target transitions.
- Judgement shooting.
- The qualification is from low ready and does not require a holster.
- All drills allow for drawing from a holster and movement by the shooter. Drills can be done without moving and from low ready, if student desires.
- All drills are voluntary and can be conducted with Coolfire instead of live fire,depending on the student.
Basic Handgun Meets requiremnets for Maryland HQL Maximum 5 students per class $200 per student
1 Day 6 hours
- Lecture on Maryland firearms laws.
- Nomenclature revolver and semi-automatic.
- Lecture Basic Marksmanship.
- Practical drills on Basic Marksmanship.
- Use Coolfire Trainers to perform more basic marksmanship drills and firearms safety.
- Transfer to the range.
- Students each provided with 50 rounds of rimfire ammuntion, eye protection and inner ear protection.
- Revolver and semi automatic will be avaialbel for use.
- Targets will be between 3 yards and 10 yards depending on students abilities.
- Upon completion a Certificate of Training will be e-mailed to students. Fingerprint services are not provided.
